Foodie Trip!
Must Eat in Tainan
Beancurd
This is no ordinary beancurd.
We did not understand why such a long queue at the shop till we tasted it. I am no fan of beancurd but i'm loving this!

Look out for this brand when you are in Tainan! It's a chain and you can spot the stalls around. Almost any stall we passed by has a queue like this so it's almost impossible to miss it. |

The beancurd is actually greyish colour and it's sooooooo smooth. I can only say one bowl is not enough to share! The shaved ice is just as delicious. Thumbs up for both.

Can't decide which is better, the dry or soup one cause both are awesome. The good thing is that the food comes in small portion so you can order more dishes! The plain looking noodles has this complex mix of flavours that blends in perfectly and excites the tastebuds so much that there is no room for any conversation in between. Unforgettable! 100% satisfied! This is when I can say that happiness is when you have great food to feed your stomach. |

The fried prawn rolls are crispy and tasty. Goes perfectly well with the noodles to complete the meal. |

Today is the Dragon Boat Festival and it is a public holiday in Taiwan. And of course we have to have rice dumplings on this day! Our research says this is the famous stall for rice dumplings and the queue is the proof. |

We ordered the normal one (left) with just meat and the salted egg yolk, and the premium one (right) which has dried scallops shrimps.... Personally, we prefer the ones back home in Singapore. I like my nonya style rice dumplings better though. The texture of the glutinous rice we got here is softer, a little more soggy. |
- Deep Fried Prawn Roll

Our sources in Kaohsiung recommended us to this stall. And I was looking forward to an even more impressive prawn roll than the one we had earlier on. The prawn rolls were fried upon ordering so we are to expect waiting time of 5 to 8 mins. Crispy and fresh. Maybe we came with high expectations so there was no surprise this time round.

We also ordered one soup and one dry Dan Zai Mian this time round. Our benchmark is already set to the standard of what we had the day before so this turns out to be just average. If we had tried this first, we may find this more tasty. But too bad, once you tasted blood, there's no turning back.
- Salted Porridge

Unfortunately we came too late. Sold Out! So we only get to take a picture of this place with the remaining customers who were lucky enough to get it. I remember we reached at like 12.30pm????? And yes, that's all folks...
![]() Ok we also ordered one dry and one soup for this to check out which is better. And the best is the 2 pieces of tau gua! It's good. Don't expect to find any fish slice in the bowl of noodles cause the fish is IN the noodles. Yes, the noodles are made with fish meat and flour. Not exactly to my liking but it's interesting experience.
![]() Eight Treasure Beancurd. Reviews say the stall owner is not doing business with the intention of making profit. True enough. The portion is generous for a low price! How to make money like that. I overheard 2 men telling each other that their bowl of "ice kachang" with fresh fruits is too much for them. ![]() This looks like the signature item so i ordered it even when i hate tomatoes just to know how it taste. The dip has a ginger taste along with some sweetness in the mix. I can't judge if it's good since i hate tomatoes. Where to play

This was not in our itinerary but we spotted the signboard to the beach along the way and got here. Weather is good so we got off our car and took a walk along the beach. Quite a nice beach for a little walk and many people brought their dogs here for a swim. Should have brought our little Mantou along with us.
- An Ping Old Tree

Walking distance to An Ping Old Street and Museum.
And this is the Banyan Tree that grows on top of, inside and around a forsaken house. The branches even pierced through the bricks. Amazing Banyan Tree.
Looks like the tree is protecting the building in a way and they seem to have an inseparable relationship.
- Salt Mountain

We skipped the Salt Museum part and head straight to the mini Salt mountain. This is easy to climb and we reach the peak in less than 10mins!
There's a souvenir shop selling toiletries made of salt and other stuffs.

View from the top of the salt mountain. There are a number of recreation activities for adults and kids. There is the water golf but we didn't get to play cause the ducking mascot is here for a tour. The one in the picture lor.
There is also a pony ride, more for kids la.

For us, we took the ATV ride. It's safe and fun! Each play is 10mins.

And before we leave, we got some finger food at the makeshift food stalls. Many people are having the salt made ice-sticks. They have salt flavoured coffee and tea too.
We grabbed a fish sausage which is very tasty.
And this dinosaur egg which is really huge. 3 times the size of a chicken egg . The egg yolk fills up 3-quarter of the egg lor. Cholestrol overdose. One egg is just nice for 2 to share.
Ohhhh forgot to mention this is the GOOSE egg. Must try.
Accommodation
For accommodation, we booked 2 different 汽车旅馆for both nights. A different experience!
Check-in time for each place is different. This first one allows check-in only after 9pm and check-out time is 12pm for overnight stay.
One can opt to book for 3hrs of resting slot during the day at a different rate.
There is no hotel lobby. Check-in is by drive-through and you only need to wind down your window, show your ID and make payment. Then you drive straight to the garage slot which links you to your room. So much privacy.
The room is huge!

The bathroom area is equally big. There is disco light setting at the bath tub and we can soak under the dancing lights, watching TV. We have our own Karaoke area and we can sing like we are at KBOX. We brought our own beer and tidbits but we ended up ordering from the recep as we ran out of beer! And they deliver the drinks to your room! No need to step out of our room during our stay at all!
And we pre-order our breakfast the night before. Meal is included. Delivered to our doorstep once again. They will give us a call to let us know that breakfast is at the door. We go collect when we are free.
- 汽车旅馆 again!
This one is more family style compared to the first, with the same kind of check-in method. But we realise that they let us check in anytime of the day when we went over to make our booking at 1p.m. We decided to come back in the evening as we have our itinerary to run.
Similar drive-in setting. We chose the Presidential suite.
楼中楼design. And we are going in to check out our room now!
We have a 烤箱and another steam room facility in our suite。
And our jacquizzi in the centre of the first floor.
So many facilities and we gotta make use of them all!
And we did.
Dressing table on the first floor.
Goodnight world
